1,000 Sarpanchs from 9 districts to meet on March 3

Stage is set for the first meeting of sarpanchs after the formation of Telangana, where 1,000 sarpanchs from across nine districts are expected to participate, here, on Saturday.

Around 1,000 sarpanchs from nine districts- Mahabubnagar, Jogulamba Gadwal, Wanaparthy, Nagarkurnool, Medchal, Ranga Reddy, Vikarabad, Nalgonda and Suryapet, would participate in the event being organised by the Panchayat Raj Department at White House Convention in Appannapally village.

Two sarpanchs from each of these districts would give demonstration on best practices being implemented in their gram panchayats, so that all the other sarpanch can emulate the ideas in their gram panchayats.

This event would be attended by Panchayat Raj Minister Jupalli Krishna Rao, Health Minister C Laxma Reddy, MLAs, MLCs, Panchayat Raj Commissioner Vikas Raj, CEO of TSIRD Pousami Basu, District Collector Ronald Rose, Zilla Parishad Chairperson Bandari Bhaskar and other officials.

This meeting attains prominence after the successful meeting of sarpanchs from across the country which was held in New Delhi last year. The decision to hold such meets across the country was taken after that event.
