Unidentified gunmen shot dead the Sarpanch of Adhkaparia Panchayat under Ramgarhwa police station in East Champaran district last night.Deputy Police Superintendent Rakesh Kumar said here today that outlaws attacked Sheikh Anwarul Haque near Teen Gachhia Jamun bridge. Criminals first slit open his throat and then shot him dead.
Criminals made good their escape to neighbouring West Champaran district after crossing over Sikrahna river. The reason behind the murder is not immediately known, police added.
Mr Haque was a witness to the murder of his brother Sheikh Mazboolah in December last. His relative Sheikh Sufi and his 4 sons along with 7 others had been made accused in the murder case.
