Cabinet Sub Committee favors distribution of 84 lakh sheep among 4 lakh families

Hyderabad: The Cabinet Sub-Committee set up for the development of sheep and fisheries in the state has recommended the state government to distribute 84 lakh sheep worth Rs.5000 crore on 75 percent subsidy to the 4 lakh families living depending on rearing sheep in the state.

The Cabinet Sub-Committee headed by Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav has met second time today at Secretariat here on Tuesday.

Cabinet Sub-Committee members were Finance Minister Etela Rajender, Major Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao, Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, Forest Minister Jogu Ramanna, Roads and Buildings Minister Thummala Nageshwara Rao and Power Minister G Jagdeesh Reddy attended the meeting except Panchayatraj Minister Jupally Krishna Rao. The Committee in its recommended that there were 4 lakh Yadava and Kurma families were there and the government will provide sheep for 2 lakh this year and 2 lakh next year giving 21 sheep to each family.

The beneficiaries have to be members in the Society and every society has to follow the cooperative law rules during membership enrolment. The government has to give 75 percent subsidy to the sheep and the Animal Husbandry Ministry has to change the rules needed to implement the scheme successfully. The government has to provide sheep to the SC, ST families by allocating funds from SC, ST Sub-Plan funds. The government has to purchase the sheep from Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. The insurance tag will be fixed where the sheep was purchased and to has to see that not to be recycled. The sheep price would be fixed based on kilos. The beneficiaries to be selected while framing rules and regulations. The tenders have to be called state level. Single. The unit cost should be Rs.1.25lakh. The transportation of sheep, insurance, purchase of sheep should be included in the unit. The priority should be given to the beneficiaries who have not have sheep.
