An Ex-Servicemen (ESM) rally was held at AOC Gajraj Stadium, Secunderabad by Army Ordnance Corps Centre under the aegis of HQ Dakshin Bharat Area today. Large number of Ex-Servicemen, Veer Naaris, and Veterans of World War-II of Army, Navy and Air Force belonging to Ranga Reddy, Medchal, Malkajgiri, Vikarabad & Hyderabad districts of Telangana participated in the rally. Lieutenant General RK Anand, General Officer Commanding, Dakshin Bharat Area inaugurated the rally by lighting the ceremonial lamp. Major General N Srinivas Rao, General Officer Commanding, Telangana & Andhra Sub Area, Lieutenant General KR Rao (Retd), former Director General Artillery, Brigadier Manish Upadhyay, Deputy GOC, Brigadier PK Sharma, Commandant, AOC Center, Colonel P Ramesh Kumar (Retd) Director, Sainik Welfare and other senior army and civil officials were present on the occasion .
Speaking on the occasion Lieutenant General RK Anand said all measures are being taken by the Indian Army to reach the Ex-Servicemen, Veer Naaris and Veterans in each district to resolve their issues related to pension, documentation, medical and others. At district level, Canteen Mangers act as Executive Director, Veterans Welfare and can be approached to resolve any grievance. At Area and Sub-Area level a Director Veterans looks after the issues and at Army HQs level Directorate of Veterans Welfare monitors the issues. The General Officer RK Anand along with Mrs Anupama Anand, President, AWWA, DB Area felicitated sixteen Veer Naaris with gifts and cash awards.
A large number of stalls were put up to facilitate and resolve grievances and issues related to pension, re-employment, rehabilitation under the latest policies and guidelines. Military Hospital Secunderabad has conducted free medical and health camps for dental and medical checkup and women health issues. Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) Polyclinic, Secunderabad put up a stall to create awareness in Ex-Servicemen, Veer Naaris and next of kin of the latest benefits and policies. Postal Department, Army Postal Node (APN) and SBI also put up stalls to help veterans in availing their services.
HQ Telangana & Andhra Sub Area under the aegis of HQ Dakshin Bharat Area has conducted Ex-Servicemen rallies in Vijayanagaram, Mahaboobnagar, Anantapur, Nalgonda districts earlier. It has also decided to organize “Sainik Sankshema Sabha” in all district in a phased manner to reach out to the Veterans in their own districts. Even the Government of Telangana is equally committed for the welfare of Ex-Servicemen in the state, as it is evident from the announcement of maximum cash awards for the gallantry award winners and also commitment to construct Integrated Sainik Bhavans in all the districts.
