German tourist injured after knife attack in Delhi, Swaraj orders probe

A 19-year-old German tourist was injured after a knife attack here, police said on Saturday. The suspects have been identified.

The victim was also robbed of his belongings, including cash in Indian currency by two assailants near the Red Fort area.

The attack took place on Friday around 11.30 p.m. when Benjamin Scolt, on a tourist visa to India, hired an e-rickshaw from the New Delhi Railway Station for a visit to the fort, Deputy Commissioner of Police Jatin Narwal told.
Swaraj orders probe:

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has ordered the police to provide a report on this and best medical treatment to the victim.

“I have asked for a report on the attack on German national in Delhi. I have asked Delhi Government to provide him best medical treatment,” Sushma tweeted.

Soon after receiving the information about the attack, the police reached the spot and took the victim to the nearby hospital for immediate treatment.
