Gold Seized at RGIA, Hyderabad

Hyderabad, Oct 21 (Maxim News): Based on profiling by the Customs Officers of the Air Intelligence Unit, Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Hyderabad, 03 Pieces of 24 KT Gold, Purity 99.9%, weighing 612.5 grams, valued at Rs. 18,71,187/-, were seized from two different pax arrived from Jeddah to Hyderabad, by two different flights AI 966 and SV 754.

The seizure was effected here today at RGIA, Shamshabad. Both the passengers concealed gold bars on body, in the secret pocket specially made on the inner garment, and passed through green channel of International Arrival Hall, with an intention to evade payment of Customs duty. The officers of Air Intelligence Unit have kept strict vigil on the passengers arriving from Gulf countries.

As a result of intensified checks by the officers, in the past ten days a total of 3.4 kgs gold has been seized from various passengers landed by different flights originating from Middle East countries. It appears that flow of gold through unofficial routes has gained momentum due to Diwali season. Further investigations are under way. (Maxim News)
