KCR, Kavitha Pay Tributes To Karunanidhi

Hyderabad, Aug.8 (Maxim News): Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao today paid rich floral tributes to former Tamil Nadu CM and DMK supremo M Karunanidhi, 94, at Rajani Hall in Chennai today.

KCR, who reached Chennai along with his daughter MP Kavitha, and party MLC Palla Rajeshwar Reddy, placed a wreath on the body of Karunanidhi and paid tributes. Raising his right hand, Chief Minister KCR shouted a slogan “Karunanidhi Amar Hai”. He also consoled Karunanidhi’s son MK Stalin, Leader of the Opposition in Tamil Nadu Assembly and MP Kanimozi and other bereaved family members of Karunanidhi on the occasion.

Earlier, the Chief Minister, Kavitha and Rajeshwar Reddy took a special flight from Begumpet Airport for Chennai. Later, at 4 pm, funeral procession of Karunanidhi was taken out from Rajaji Hall and last rites were performed at the Marina Beach at around 6 pm as per the High Court directive.

It may be mentioned here that the AIADMK government had denied permission to cremate Karunanidhi’s body at Marina Beach beside the grave of DMK founder late Anna Durai earlier. However, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Benerjee intervened and made a vain bid convince her Tamil Nadu counterpart Palani Swamy. Mamatha finally took up the issue with Prime Minister Narendra Modi for performing final rites at Marina Beach. (Maxim News)
