KTR unveils Telangana’s Food Processing Policy

To tap the growing potential in food processing sector and also give a new lease of life to farmers, the State government has announced Telangana Food Processing Policy at the ongoing World Food India 2017 conference being held in New Delhi on Saturday. The policy, which will be in force for next five years, is aimed at doubling farmers’ income from the existing Rs 1.28 lakh annual income.

Further, the policy is aimed at realising investments worth Rs 20,000 crore in the food processing sector in the State and also creating about 1.25 lakh direct jobs. The State government had already signed memoranda of understanding at the World Food India conference, attracting investments worth Rs 7,250 crore in the State.
