Many parts of UP may descend into violence says CPI-M

The CPI-M said on Wednesday that Uttar Pradesh might descend into violence if aggressive rightwing Hindu groups were not checked.

“If this situation of aggression under the patronage of the ruling party with complete impunity continues, many parts of UP are in danger of descending into spirals of caste and communal violence,” CPI-M leaders Brinda Karat and Subhashini Ali told President Pranab Mukherjee here.

The President was told that the formation of a BJP government in Uttar Pradesh had encouraged vigilante groups, including Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s Hindu Yuva Vahini, to attack sections of people with impunity.
