Moin-ud-Dowla Cup: Baroda’s easy win over Kerala

Hyderabad: Jyotsnil Singh hit 103 while Ninand Rathwa claimed 5 for 29 to star in Baroda’s big 95-run win over Kerala in the second round Group `B’ league match of the Moin-ud-Dowla Cup cricket tournament on Wednesday.

Electing to bat, Baroda mustered 222 for 7 in 50 overs. Jyotsnil struck five fours and two sixes in his 138-ball knock. Chasing 223 for victory, Kerala were bundled out for 127 in 34.1 overs. Rohan Kunnummel resisted the Baroda attack scoring 70 but in the end Rathwa had the last laugh.

Arpit Vasavada (106) steered CA & AG to a four-wicket win over Vidarbha in a Group A match. Vidarbha were restricted 211 for 7. Led by Vasadava, the audit team coasted home in the last over, with three deliveries to spare.

Andhra CA recorded their second victory in Group A when they defeated Goa by 118 runs. Andhra posted 292 for 9 in 50 overs. CR Gnaneshwar top scored with 68 while K Maheep Kumar and former Hyderabad Ranji captain DB Ravi Teja hit half-centuries. Goa, in reply, were bowled out for 174 in 49.2 overs.

In another Group `B’ match, off-spinner Gaurav Kumar returned with the day’s bowling figures of 8-2-6-5 in Air India’s commanding nine-wicket win over a hapless Combined Districts.

Electing to bat, the Districts were skittled out for 78 in 35 overs. AI romped home in nine overs.
