Naidu Seeks KCR Help For Special Status To AP

Hyderabad, July 15 (Maxim News): In a significant development, Telugu Desam Chief and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu today sought help of his bête noire and Telangana counterpart K Chandrashekhar Rao with regard to special status and implementation of promises mentioned in the AP Reorganization Act.

Naidu, who had snapped his party’s ties with the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre and not enjoying better relationship with KCR, has sent a team of leaders to meet with the TRS leadership and urged its help for special status category (SCS) by putting pressure on the Centre. Despite getting a harsh response of denial of SCS to its State, Chandrababu has chosen to send his party leaders to various States like Telangana, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu.

On Sunday, a team of TD leaders, including former Union Minister Sujana Chowdhary and K Narayana called on TRS General Secretary and MP K Keshav Rao and discussed on the key issues like getting special status and other promises that the Centre has to offer. During the meeting, the TD leaders accused the BJP Government at the Centre of miserably failing to accord SCS to Andhra Pradesh State as per bifurcation Act. They sought the support of the TRS which enjoys good representation at Parliament and to pres the Centre to concede to their just demands. “The NDA Government has deceived the AP Government and injustices were meted out to the State”, they alleged.

Keshav Rao reportedly informed about the same to the TD leaders of taking up the issue with Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. It is pertinent note here that the TRS MPs Kavitha had vouched for the SCS in Parliament during its last session and openly extended support to the AP Government on Reorganization Act.

Chandrababu Naidu also sent a few other teams to garner support of other States. He sent the TD MPs T Narasimham and Ravindra Babu to talk to NCP Chief Sharad Pawar and Shiva Sena Chief Udhav Thakare in Mumbai. Another team of the TD including MP Ramesh has been to Chennai to meet with DMK and AIADMK leaders on the issue. (Maxim News)
