Parineeti says There’s little scope to make mistakes

“My break has been over-scrutinised,” Parineeti Chopra says with a sigh. After the debacle of her 2015 film ‘Kill Dil’, the actress took a break from Bollywood. Almost a year later, she returned to the scene in a much leaner avatar, but seemed to be in no hurry to sign films. Now promoting her next release, ‘Meri Pyaari Bindu’, Pari admits she is tired of answering why she took a break.

“I took time off for barely 10 months; I wanted to work on my fitness. I wanted to set up my new house. There was no strategy for my return. When ‘Meri Pyaari Bindu’ was offered, I liked the story and came on board. I wasnt taking a break to analyse my choice of films. Bringing variety to the table is a constant endeavour.”

Did two successive flops – ‘Daawat-E-Ishq’ (2014) and ‘Kill Dil’ – trigger Parineeti Chopra’s decision? “This is a field where you cant plan [how things will turn out]; everyone would be a superstar otherwise,” she retorts, admitting that staying away from the limelight for a bit did a world of good to her. “But people write all sorts of things about an actor taking a sabbatical. If I go scubadiving, people ask if I am doing it for a film. Am I any less of a human being because I am an actor? In this age of paparazzi, there is little scope to make mistakes. If my feet hurts and I step out in chappals, they will circle my footwear and question why I wore them.”
