Ponnam Prabhakar begins indefinite hunger strike for medical college in Karimnagar

Karimnagar: Telangana Pradesh Congress Chief (TPCC) vice-president and former MP, Ponnam Prabhakar on Saturday started indefinite hunger strike demanding the Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao to fulfill his promise made to the people of Karimnagar three years ago about setting up of medical college in the district headquarters. At around 10.15 am, Prabhakar started deeksha in front of his residence in Mankammathota, Karimnagar town. He performed pujas and took blessing from his mother before sitting for fast-unto-death strike.

District Congress Committee president Katakam Mruthyunjayam marked the start of deeksha by applying vermilion on the forehead of Prabhakar and garlanding him. MLAs, former legislatures, public representatives, Congress party leaders and workers, students unions and others extended their support to Prabhakar. CLP leader K Jana Reddy, MLA from Jagitial T Jeevan Reddy, former legislatures Aarepalli Mohan, Aligireddy Praveen Reddy, former Zilla Parishad Chairman Adluri Laxman Kumar and others extended their support to Prabhakar.
