Schools as Sacred as Religious Places: Anita Rajendra

Hyderabad, April 25 (Maxim News): Schools are as sacred as religious places, said Mrs. Anita Rajendra, Secretary Department of Home, Government of Telangana.

Addressing the College Day program of Ghulam Ahmed College of Education (GACE), she went on to advice the passing out teachers saying ‘teaching is the most sacred profession, and of great societal value while referring to the historical ways when classrooms meant teaching sessions under a tree’s canopy.

Mrs. Anita emphasized that an effective “teacher will help the child imbibe whatever is taught” adding that young students, children in particular, should be supported by their teacher and easily accessible to them. In fact, “students must be given the choice to choose their field of study, a dimension, according to her, that will help “reduce the suicidal tendency among teenagers when educational choices are imposed upon them and against their will”.

She advised the B.Ed and M.Ed students to be bold and dynamic as teaching is generally linked with women, and it warranted greater responsibility and discipline.
