Telangana top in South in healthcare expenditure

Government spending in healthcare is vital to not only address ailments but also important for the State’s economy. Given this, the October report of National Health Accounts Estimates of India (NHAEI) prepared by the Minister of Health and Family Welfare (MOHFW), New Delhi, has put Telangana on a par with leading southern States like Tamil Nadu, in terms of medical expenditure spent per person by the government.

Within a few years of bifurcation, the State has quickly risen among southern States, in terms of overall government expenditure on healthcare and even on individuals. At the same time, it has been also able to keep, out of pocket expenses incurred by individuals while accessing healthcare from escalating.
