TN govt to set up Metro Blood Bank says Health Minister

The Tamil Nadu government will set up a ‘Metro Blood Bank’ at a cost of Rs 213 crore in Chennai, Health Minister Dr C Vijayabaskar said today. Inaugurating a blood donation camp organised at the State Government Multi Speciality Hospital to mark the World Blood Donor Day, he said ”the State government has been taking several steps to create an awareness on the importance of blood donation among the people’.

He said the state was also witnessing a fast development in the infrastructure for donating blood. About the ‘Metro Blood Bank,’ the Minister said the Central government has sanctioned the fund for this purpose and it would be equipped with the state-of-the-art technology for donating and preserving blood for a longer period of time.
