Uttam ridicules TRS Govt’s growth claims in Governor’s address

Hyderabad, March 10 (Maxim News): Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy has ridiculed the claims of development made by the TRS Government in the address of Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan to the joint session of Telangana Assembly and Council on the first day of budget session on Friday.

Speaking to media persons at Assembly Media Point, Uttam Kumar Reddy said that there was no mention of flagship schemes including double-bed room houses for weaker sections, 12% reservation for Muslims and STs, farmers’ suicides and other key issues. “The figures of GSDP growth in the State were fake. TRS Government did not clear crop loan waiver and Fee Reimbursement dues citing drop in growth rate and cash crunch. However, now it is claiming that the State’s GSDP growth was impressive at a rate of 13.7% and higher than the national average,” he said.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the claims on growth of agriculture sector were misleading. He said that the farm sector was in deep crisis in the State and the government did not bother to mention anything about suicides committed by the farmers which were well documented by the National Crime Records Bureau. He said that the production of food grains, cereals and other commodities have gone down during the Rabi season and the farmers were not getting the supporting price for their produce.

The TPCC Chief ridiculed the State Government for highlighting creation of 21 new districts as its achievement. The new districts were created in a completely unscientific manner and against the people’s wishes. He said that the new districts did not benefit the common people in any way. He also alleged that the TRS Government was wrongly trying to take credit for the improved energy situation in the State. He said that the addition of 4,190 MW of power was due to the projects initiated during previous Congress regime and TRS Government did not generate a single unit of power from the projects started during its rule.

Uttam Kumar Reddy condemned the government for not mentioning anything in the Governor’s address about the promise of 12% reservation for Muslims and Scheduled Tribes. He said that the government should have at least mentioned their status and apologised for the delay in their implementation. He said that the non-mention of 12% Muslims and ST quota was an insult to both the communities.

Justifying the party’s decision to stage a walkout from the House during the Governor’s address, the TPCC Chief announced that the Congress party would expose the lies and failures of TRS Government in the budget session. He also ridiculed the survey conducted by TRS on the performance of MLAs. He said that the survey was totally fake and aimed at diverting people’s attention from the failures of TRS Government. He dared Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao to sack the ministers for non-performance if the survey was genuine.

He said it was highly unfortunate that the TRS Government made the Governor speak lies in his customary address. (Maxim News)
