Vivekanand group sweeps HCA elections

Hyderabad, April.1: Former MP and Advisor to Telangana Government G Vivekananda’s group swept the elections to Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) on Friday evening.

As per the Justice Lodha Committee recommendations, elections were held for one post of president, one vice-president, secretary, joint secretary, treasurer and one executive committee member. The Vivekanand group won all the four posts in the results announced by Returning Officer K Rajeev Reddy. However, the result of joint secretary post where Ajmal is facing Vanka Pratap was withheld.

It may be mentioned here that the Hyderabad High Court has given a green signal for counting of the votes on Friday. The counting started late in the evening. Shesh Narayan was unanimously elected as secretary. Vivekanand romped home with 136 votes while his opponent Vidyut Jaisimha, son of former Test cricketer ML Jaisimha, secured 69 votes.

In the election to vice-president’s post, Anil Kumar defeated Imran Mehmood by 138 and 66 votes. Mahender polled the highest number of votes for treasurer’s post. He routed P Anuradha, wife of former Treasurer P Yadagiri by 150 and 58. Hanumanth Reddy was declared elected as Executive Committee member by securing 100 votes.
