Hyderabad: Civil Supplies officials along with the LB Nagar police seized around 300 quintals of rice meant for the Public Distribution System (PDS) from a house at LB Nagar on Wednesday.
According to officials, a raid was conducted on a house at Shivapuri Colony where one person was allegedly procuring PDS rice from ration card holders at the rate of Rs 10 per kilogram and later selling it in markets in neighbouring districts.
“On noticing the raiding, the man and a few others, who were present in the house, managed to flee from there. We have seized 300 quintals of rice, a DCM van and three motorcycles,” said KYL Narsimha Rao, Assistant Supply Officer, Ranga Reddy.
Civil supplies officials lodged a complaint with the LB Nagar police.
