Everyone should worship clay Ganesh idols to save environment: Mayor

Hyderabad, September 15: City Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi has said that everyone should worship clay Ganesh idols to protect the environment. Mayor distributed clay idols of Ganesh to the officials and staff of GHMC for the benefit of environment in honor of Vinayaka Chavithi at GHMC headquarters on Friday.

Speaking on the occasion, Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi asked the residents of the city to celebrate the festival of Ganesh Navratri, which is celebrated with devotion for nine days, in a way that protects the environment. He said that all arrangements have been completed for free distribution of 4.64 lakh clay idols in all ward office premises within GHMC on 16th and 17th of this month through GHMC, HMDA and Pollution Control Board. GHMC is distributing 66,500 in LBnagar zone, 93,600 in Charminar zone, 80,100 in Khairatabad zone, 42,900 in Serilingampally zone, 58,600 in Kukatpally zone and 76,500 in Secunderabad zone. Similarly, Mayor explained that 79,200 clay idols of Ganesh are being distributed by HMDA, 75,000 by Pollution Control Board and 46,000 clay idols of Ganesh at GHMC headquarters.

In this distribution process, 1.5 feet clay idols 10 thousand, 1 foot 30 thousand, 8 inch idols 2,70,000 idols by GHMC, 8 inch idols 79,200 by HMDA, 8 inch idols 75,000 by Pollution Control Board. Idols will be distributed. Another 46,000 clay idols will be distributed at the respective places through the GHMC head office. Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi said that the clay idols distributed by all the ward offices including GHMC, HMDA and Pollution Control Board departments will distribute a total of 4,64,200 clay idols within the GHMC.

Additional Commissioner Upender Reddy, SE Koteswara Rao, CMOH Dr. Padmaja and others participated in the distribution of clay Vinayaka idols.
