At present, an average of 70 lakh metric tons of rice is produced in the state every year. Out of this, 24 lakh metric tonnes of rice is used for state needs, while the remaining is put under levy to FCI.

Meanwhile, in the wake of the decision to increase the production of quality fine rice in the state this year, the Civil Supplies Department of the state has directly focused on foreign exports. The Philippines has stopped importing rice from India in the past few years due to quality concerns. In this context, Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy participated in a video conference with the country’s Agriculture Minister on rice exports to the Philippines.
