TPCC Recommendations For Social Media Coordinators In Temples Triggers Opposition

Hyderabad, Nov 3 (Maxim News): At a time when Chief Minister Revanth Reddy expressed his strong objection over social media campaigns, the Congress in Telangana now wants social media coordinators to be included in different temple committees or trust boards to propagate the developmental activities of the respective temples.

To this effect, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Mahesh Kumar Goud on Saturday wrote a letter to Endowments Minister Konda Surekha. He appealed to the Minister to accommodate the social media coordinators in the stemple committees or trust boards to promote the activities through social media to the common people.

It may be recalled that the State unit of the Congress had organized a special program for its social media warriors on October 25 at Gandhi Bhavan. Besides offering health cards and suitable positions and designations, the social media warriors, who top the charts in a month, were promised prizes.

The TPCC president’s appeal to the Endowments Minister has triggered stiff opposition from different sections with many questioning the objective behind the idea.

Sharing the TPCC president’s letter copy on X, BRS leader Manne Krishank said “Social Media Coordinator in each temple is only to employ Congress Karyakartas in temples across Telangana. This is an additional financial burden to temples. Endowments Officers are qualified enough to run spiritual campaigns.”

The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) also raised strong objections to the TPCC president’s appeal to the Endowments Minister.

Temples are spiritual places and the Endowments department is specifically designated to handle all the activities, including promotion of spiritual campaigns or programs related to the temples,” said VHP National Spokesperson R. Shashidhar.

More so, if the Congress party and State government are committed to the development of temples, there is the Hindu Prachara Parishad. Let the government extend sufficient funds to the Parishad for effective promotions of temples,” Shashidhar demanded.  (Maxim News)
