After the Hindu side declared the Jama Masjid of Sambhal district as Harihar temple in the court, the court, while hearing the petition, ordered its survey. For the same survey, the team of the Advocate Commissioner had reached early in the morning. Along with the team, Supreme Court Advocate Vishnu Shankar Jain, DM Dr. Rajendra Pansiya, and SP Krishna Kumar Bishnoi also reached the Jama Masjid with a heavy police force.

In view of the tension, RRF, PAC, and local police personnel were deployed in the surrounding area. Every road leading to the mosque was guarded. When the team reached around 7:30 pm, everything was calm for some time. It seemed that the situation was better. The police officers were also getting relaxed when suddenly at around 9 pm, a flood of angry people came and started pelting stones at the police.

The Hindu side claims that in the place where Shahi Jama Masjid is located, there was a Harihar temple, which was demolished and a mosque was built. After this, the matter escalated so much that it reached the court. After which the court ordered a survey of the mosque.
