Texas Senate Recognizes Holi as an Official Cultural Celebration

Houston/Hyderabad, March 20 (Maxim News): The Texas Senate has passed its first-ever resolution officially recognizing Holi, acknowledging the Hindu festival of colors as a significant cultural celebration.

With this historic move, Texas becomes the third U.S. state—after Georgia and New York—to formally recognize Holi. The resolution, introduced by Senator Sarah Eckhardt, was passed just ahead of Holi celebrations on March 14. It highlights the festival’s cultural and spiritual significance, celebrating spring, renewal, unity, and the triumph of good over evil.

A Celebration of Unity and Cultural Diversity

“The origins of this jubilant festival can be traced back many millennia, and the holiday is recognized and celebrated throughout the world by people of all backgrounds who relate to the festival’s themes of love, renewal, and progress,” the resolution states.

The Texas Senate also emphasized Holi’s role in strengthening community bonds and enriching the state’s cultural diversity.
