COVID Cases Rise in Telangana: State Govt On Alert
Hyderabad, June 3 (Maxim News): As Telangana reports a slight uptick in COVID-19 cases with four active infections currently on record, the state government has ramped up surveillance and preparedness efforts. Control rooms have been activated at the state level and across all districts to monitor and manage the evolving situation.
Despite the spike, health authorities have emphasized that the situation remains under control. Director of Health, Dr. Ravinder Naik, reassured the public that COVID-19 in Telangana has transitioned from a pandemic to an endemic stage, meaning the virus is expected to persist in a more predictable and manageable pattern.
“COVID-19 is no longer a global public health emergency, as the World Health Organization (WHO) declared. The virus is now widespread, but the symptoms remain mild in most cases,” said Dr. Naik. He noted that while the virus continues to mutate, the current strains are not causing severe illness.
The health official urged citizens not to panic but to remain cautious, especially vulnerable groups such as senior citizens and individuals with underlying health conditions. “General precautions are essential. People with comorbidities should be particularly vigilant,” he added.
To maintain transparency and coordination, the Telangana Health Department is regularly updating the Union Health Ministry and the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) on the local situation. “We are following all central guidelines and issuing advisories to district health officials,” said Dr. Naik.
Authorities stress the importance of continued vigilance, adherence to public health measures, and seeking medical advice in case of symptoms. While the immediate threat appears limited, proactive monitoring remains key to preventing further spread.
