One Dead, 70 Fall Ill After Suspected Food Poisoning At Erragadda Mental Hospital
Hyderabad, June 4 (Maxim News): One died and 70 fell ill in a Suspected Food Poisoning at Erragadda Mental Hospital in Hyderabad.
A suspected case of Food Poisoning incident at the Institute of Mental Health (IMH) at Erragadda, Hyderabad has left one patient dead and 70 others affected. Hyderabad District Collector Anudeep Durishetty, along with Director of Medical Education (DME) A. Narendra Kumar, visited the hospital on Tuesday evening. He said, “We have not concluded that it is a food poisoning case. The situation is under investigation.
Food samples could not be sent for testing as all food had been consumed by the time symptoms emerged. However, stool, vomit, and water samples have been collected and sent to the Institute of Preventive Medicine (IPM) for analysis. Two individuals have been shifted to Osmania General Hospital, as they have low blood pressure, and they are stable. The remaining 68 patients are stable, monitoring the situation is being monitored by doctors.” Officials suspect the illness may be linked to contaminated water, more clarity can be expected in the next 24 hours.
