Hyderabad’s Bakrid Qurbani Goes Digital As Families Opt For Online Sacrifice

Hyderabad, June 5 (Maxim News): With high-rises now dotting the older parts of the city and little space available for sacrificing animals in buildings, Qurbani service providers are witnessing huge demand in Hyderabad.

These service providers undertake the complete responsibility of sacrificing sheep or cattle as per Islamic etiquette, clean the animal, cut the meat into portions, and deliver it to customers at their doorstep.

Abdul Rahman of Hyderabad Qurbani Online Services said they have arranged for meat delivery within four hours of the sacrifice. “The customer must inform us once they have completed Eid prayers. In the presence of a person with religious knowledge, the animal is sacrificed, cleaned, and the meat is then delivered,”

The demand for Qurbani services is also increasing as many men are working abroad in the Gulf or other countries, leaving women unable to buy or sacrifice the animals themselves. Senior citizens, too, often find it difficult to visit markets and perform the ritual.

“Due to various reasons, people are unable to go out, but sheep or cattle, and perform the sacrifice. We take care of everything,” said Areeb from Hyderabad meat Bazaar.

The service charges range between Rs. 12,500 and Rs. 17,000, depending on the weight of the sheep and the amount of meat it yields.

“Usually, a sheep weighing 10-12 kilograms is sacrificed. We purchase sheep in bulk and keep them at the farm. After the sacrifice, the meat is transported and handed over to customers. On specific request, we also distribute it to their relatives and friends for an additional charge,” said Mohd Obaid of Halal Online Qurbani.

However, service providers caution people to remain vigilant. In previous instances, fraudulent individuals collected money and disappeared, leaving customers stranded at the last minute. (Maxim News)
