Massive Explosion On Singapore Ship Off Kerala Coast

Delhi/Hyderabad, June 9 (Maxim News): A major accident occurred off the coast of Kochi, kerala. A Singapore-owned container ship caught fire on the morning of June 9. four crew members were missing and five others were seriously injured in the incident. Another 18 crew members were rescued from the burning ship by the Indian Navy and Coast Guard.

The 270 meter-long and 12.5 meter draft container ship MV Van Hai 503 was scheduled to leave Colombo on June 7 and reach Mumbai on June 10. However, a fire broke out while it was approaching kerala at 10.30 am today. The Indian navy, which was alerted immediately, direverted INS Surat to the burning container, a defence official said.

It is known that a huge cargo ship from Liberia sank in the sea near the Kochi coast of Kerala recently. The 24 crew members on board the ship were rescued by the Indian Coast Guard (ICG).

The Indian navy and the Kerala State Disaster Management Authority (KSMA) also participated in this rescue operation. The ship was carrying 640 containers, 84.44 tonnes of diesel and 367.1 tonnes of furnace oil. there were hazardous chemicals. (Maxim News)
