Veteran Journalist V Hanurnantha Rao no more
Hyderabad, 13th Dec,(Maxim News): Veteran Journalist and former General Secretary of Andhra Pradesh Union of Working Journalists, V Hanumantha Rao passed away on Tuesday here at his residence.
He was 92 and leaves behind two sons and a daughter. His son Satish Babu is
also a senior journalist. The Indian Journalists Union (IlU) and Telangana State union of Working Journalists (TUWJ) expressed shock over his demise and paid glowing tributes.
In his 65 years long journey as a journalist he crossed many a mile stone and inspired four generations of journalists. He has the distinction of covering first Parliament for a Telugu newspaper. Visalaandhra.
He often used to say that journalism which espoused news and
views from the perspective of and in the interest of common man is the true journalism.
An expert on writing stories based on empirical data, he was pioneer in developmentjournalism in Telugu. He established a journalism school and a news agency, Data News Features (DNF) to initiate young journalists into development journalism interpreting the data.
Hanumantha Rao was founding member of the Andhra Provincial Union of Journalists in .Madras state and then the Andhra Pradesh Union of Working Journalists (APUWJ) in theunited Andhra Pradesh. Life long associate of the Union, he served a General Secretary for a term.
In a statement issued here on Tuesday, the Indian Journalists Union (IlU) and the Telangana State Union of Working Journalists (TUWJ) condoled the death of Hanumantha Rao and paid him glowing tributes. The statement said “In his death the working journalists’ movement in Telugu states lost a founder member and lifelong associate.
He led the APUWJ as General Secretary and contributed to its growth as most representative organisation of working journalists.” .’
Earlier, Indian Journalists Union (IlU) Secretary-General Amar Devulapalli, senior leader K Sreenivas Reddy, Telangana State Union of Working Journalists (TUWJ) General Secretary K Virahath Ali visited his residence and laid a wreath on his body.
They extended their condolences and sympathy to the bereaved family.(Maxim News)
