Hyderabad Traffic Police Educate Students on Road Safety at Santoshnagar Awareness Program

Hyderabad, July 8, 2025 (Maxim News): In a proactive step toward promoting traffic discipline and road safety, the Santoshnagar Traffic Police conducted a Traffic Awareness Program for the students of Vikas High School under the Santoshnagar limits today. The initiative aimed to build awareness among students on traffic rules, safe pedestrian practices, and responsible road behavior.

The session witnessed active participation from over 200 students, along with the presence of distinguished guests including Shri Chandra Kumar, ACP South East Zone, Mohammed Asif, Inspector, Traffic PS Santoshnagar, SI Venkatappa, and Traffic Training Inspector HC Venu Gopal.

Purpose of the Program

To educate young students about:

  • The importance of road safety
  • Understanding traffic signs and signals
  • Avoiding risky behaviors
  • Legal consequences of minor driving

1. Importance of Traffic Rules

  • Designed for public safety and accident prevention.
  • Following traffic norms helps save lives.

2. Understanding Traffic Signals & Signs

  • Red: Stop
  • Yellow: Get Ready
  • Green: Go
  • Signs such as zebra crossings, school zones, and speed limits were also explained.

3. Safe Pedestrian Practices

  • Always use footpaths and zebra crossings.
  • Check both sides (right-left-right) before crossing.
  • Avoid distractions like mobile phones and earphones while crossing.

4. Cycle Safety Tips

  • Always wear a helmet.
  • Do not ride double unless allowed.
  • Follow all traffic signals, even while cycling.

5. Avoiding Risky Behavior

  • No playing or running near roads.
  • Do not travel on footboards or ride in overcrowded vehicles.

6. Legal Awareness on Minor Driving

  • If a minor is caught driving, the vehicle owner/parent can be jailed.
  • The minor will be sent to a juvenile home for 4 days.
  • RC of the vehicle will be canceled for one year.
  • The minor will be barred from getting a license until the age of 25.
