“Vishwa Nagar Isn’t Just High-Tech Hubs – Suburbs Need Basic Facilities To”: Eatala Rajender

Hyderabad, July 12 (Maxim News): Malkajgiri MP Eatala Rajender has called out the Telangana government’s narrative of Hyderabad as a “Vishwa nagar” or global city, saying true development lies not in showcasing high-tech zones, but in ensuring basic infrastructure in the suburban colonies.

Touring Hayatnagar division on Friday along with local corporator Kallem Navajivan Reddy, Etala expressed deep concern over the poor civic conditions in the expanding colonies around Hyderabad.

“A global city doesn’t just mean skyscrapers and IT parks. It means drains that don’t flood homes, roads that don’t vanish during rains, and safe drinking water in every household,” Etala said while interacting with residents.

Suburban Colonies in Crisis

Etala highlighted the plight of residents in newly formed colonies and slum areas on Hyderabad’s outskirts, particularly in Hayatnagar, Mansoorabad, and Nagole divisions of LB Nagar constituency. He said that during every monsoon, homes are inundated due to lack of stormwater drainage, and roads become unusable, leaving thousands stranded.

“It is disheartening to witness the suffering of people due to neglected civic planning. Even where lakhs of people live, there are no proper roads, drains or drinking water supply,” he added.

Assures Immediate Infrastructure Projects

In a major assurance to the local community, Etala announced a Rs. 6 crore project to develop the 80 to 100 feet main road between Kummarikunta and Hayatnagar Cheruvu, connecting Nagarjunasagar Road to Hayatnagar. The work will begin shortly to address the critical need for a smooth transportation corridor in the area.

He also said that the long-pending drainage issue in Hayatnagar will be resolved as part of the infrastructure push.

Calls for Equitable Urban Development

Etala urged the state government to extend urban development focus to the city’s outskirts, stating that slogans of a global city ring hollow when large swathes of citizens in suburbs live without basic amenities.

“Development should not be restricted to the high-rise buildings of the IT corridor. It must be inclusive, covering every slum and colony,” he said.

Local residents and civic leaders who participated in the program welcomed the MP’s initiative and hoped the promised projects would be completed swiftly.
