Hyderabad, Sept. 14: In a rare judicial intervention, the National Lok Adalat directed Go Digit Insurance Company to pay ₹1 crore as compensation to a road accident victim, following an on-site inquiry conducted by a judge inside an ambulance.

Family Struggles After Tragic Accident
The case revolves around Japathi Dixit (22), a second-year engineering student from Bachupalli, who suffered a severe head injury in a road accident on August 12, 2023, while traveling to Ananthagiri Hills with friends in a rented car.
His parents, Japathi Venkateshwarlu, a clerk in a pesticide shop, and Padma, a farmer, borrowed nearly ₹60 lakh for his treatment at a private hospital in Hyderabad.
Despite their efforts, Dixit’s body succumbed to the injuries.
The family later approached the court, seeking ₹1.50 crore compensation from Go Digit Insurance Company. The case was heard during the National Lok Adalat session held on Saturday.
Judge’s On-Site Inquiry and Verdict
When the court learned that the victim was being treated in an ambulance, Judge Shaukat Jahan Siddiqui, Chairperson of the Legal Services Committee and 12th Additional Chief Judge, personally went to the ambulance to conduct the inquiry.

He interacted with the victim’s family and examined the case details before issuing the order.
The judge directed the insurance company to pay ₹1 crore within one month and deposit the amount directly into the victim’s account.
Representatives of the insurance company present at the hearing consented to the order.
