HYDRA Commissioner Visits Mangar Basti Were Two People Swept Away In Floodwaters
Hyderabad, Sept 15 (Maxim News) Two people, uncles and nephews Ramu and Arjun, were swept away in the floodwaters caused by heavy rains in Mangar Basti Nala in Masab Tank . The incident took place at around 8 pm yesterday (Sunday). However, HYDRA Commissioner Ranganath and Hyderabad Collector Harichandan visited Mangar Basti today (Monday). Ranganath and Collector Harichandan inquired about the details of the disappearance of the two people from the authorities. Ranganath spoke to the media on this occasion.
Hyderabad Commissioner Ranganath said that drains have been encroached on in many areas. He said that two people got lost in an accident while going to fetch a bed in Afzal Sagar last night (Sunday). He revealed that an illegal structure on the drain has obstructed the flow of water. He said that they have come to the decision to remove some houses in this basti and take action.
He explained that three people went missing across Hyderabad yesterday (Sunday). It was revealed that two of them died. He said that two thousand trucks of silt had been removed from the GHMC area. He explained that many drains were problematic. He said that Hydra is working to solve all the problems. He emphasized that Hydra exists for the people. Hydra Commissioner Ranganath said that illegal structures need to be removed to prevent accidents in the future.
Hyderabad Collector Harichandana said that a compensation of Rs. 5 lakh will be paid to the family members of the victims who lost their lives in the Nala accident . He said that the bodies of two people have not been found yet and further steps will be taken after they are found. He advised us to be careful about old houses. He advised people living near Nala to be careful if the flood level is high. He said that some structures in this basti are on Nala. Collector Harichandana warned that such things are dangerous for everyone.
He said that a report has been sent to the Telangana government to provide Indiramma houses to the people of this basti. It was revealed that 145 houses in this basti are on the Nala. He said that there are many houses in a total of two acres. He reminded that notices have been given to the people of this basti several times in the past. Hyderabad Collector Harichandana said that if the people of Mangar basti agree, they will provide residential areas elsewhere. (Maxim News)
