The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) has increased its election activity in the Jubilee Hills Assembly by-election, extending support to Congress candidate V. Naveen Yadav. The move comes after AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi confirmed that the party would not contest the bypoll and would instead back the Congress, calling on voters to focus on development rather than emotion.

Karwan MLA Kausar Mohiuddin is leading the campaign efforts in the constituency. He is joined by MLCs Mirza Rahmat Ali Baig, Mirza Riyaz-ul-Hassan Effendi, and several AIMIM corporators. The party’s outreach is concentrated in four minority-dominated divisions—Shaikpet, Borabanda, Erragadda, and Rahmath Nagar. These areas are viewed as crucial for consolidating support for the Congress nominee.

AIMIM leaders have been conducting door-to-door canvassing, meeting residents, and distributing pamphlets across multiple neighborhoods. On Friday, following prayers in Shaikpet, MLA Kausar urged worshippers to vote for Naveen Yadav. Corporators Rasheduddin Faraz and Mohammed Naseeruddin led similar efforts in Gulshan Colony and Paramount Colony, while MLC Riyaz Effendi campaigned in Rahmath Nagar and Rahmat Baig addressed gatherings in Erragadda.

MLA Kausar stated that he, along with Labour Minister Gaddam Vivek Venkata Swamy, Congress Minister Mohammed Azharuddin, and Waqf Board Chairman Azmathullah, has been actively holding group meetings across colonies to mobilize voters. He said, “We have been continuously holding group meetings at the party’s unit level to ensure the cadre remains actively involved in the polls. Each day, two to three group meetings are held.”

Political analyst Mohamed Asif Hussain Sohail remarked that AIMIM’s decision not to contest marks a strategic shift to support Congress. He observed that educated Muslim voters in Shaikpet are considering long-term social and political stability rather than short-term civic issues. “Even though AIMIM’s support may influence a few pockets in the name of Asaduddin Owaisi, Jubilee Hills voters will ultimately choose character, performance, and credibility over polarisation,” Sohail said.
