- Finance Department releases December bills after DCM directions
- Praja Government assures regular monthly releases for employees
The state government has released ₹713 crore towards pending bills of government employees for the month of December. Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu issued orders for the release, officials said. Following his directions, the Finance Department cleared the bills on Wednesday. The move aims to address long pending dues and ensure timely payments to employees.
According to officials, the ₹713 crore released covers bills payable to government employees for December. The Finance Department acted soon after receiving instructions from the Deputy Chief Minister. Therefore, the release marks another step in the government’s effort to meet its commitments to employee unions. Officials confirmed that the payments were processed without delay after the orders were issued.
Praja Government commitment on monthly bill releases
It may be recalled that the Praja Government had earlier assured employee unions of regular financial support. The government promised that ₹700 crore would be released every month towards pending bills. By the end of June, the government released ₹183 crore. However, officials later ensured a steady flow of funds. From August onwards, a minimum of ₹700 crore has been consistently released every month. This pattern reflects the government’s stated commitment to address employee-related financial obligations.
Meanwhile, the latest release of ₹713 crore aligns with the monthly assurance given to unions. Officials said the December release follows the same framework adopted in recent months. Therefore, the government has continued the practice of clearing bills on a regular basis. This approach, officials noted, helps reduce backlog and improves confidence among employees.
Bills include gratuity GPF and leave encashment
The bills released include payments related to employees’ gratuity, General Provident Fund, surrender leave encashment, and advances. These components form a major part of employee welfare and retirement related benefits. Therefore, timely release is critical for employees who depend on these payments for personal and financial planning.
Officials added that the Finance Department remains focused on processing such bills as per schedule. Later, they reiterated that consistent monthly releases would continue as assured. The government believes that regular payments will prevent accumulation of arrears and ease pressure on both employees and the administration.
The release of ₹713 crore for December thus reinforces the government’s policy of maintaining continuity in employee payments. Officials said further steps would follow the same process in the coming months, subject to existing assurances and directions.
