- Voting is a fundamental responsibility, says Minister
- Claims transparent elections under Congress government
Hyderabad: Gaddam Vivek Venkataswamy exercised his right to vote at Booth No. 227 in Hitech City, Mancherial district on Wednesday. The Minister for Labour, Employment and Mines cast his vote and later addressed the media.
After casting his vote, he reiterated that voting is a fundamental responsibility of every citizen in a democracy. He emphasised that people must take part in the electoral process to strengthen democratic values. He also appealed to all citizens to exercise their right to vote.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said elections are being conducted in a transparent and free atmosphere under the people-centric governance of the present government. He stated that people across the state are satisfied with the welfare schemes implemented by the Congress government. Moreover, he said that despite the previous government leaving the state burdened with debts, the current government has streamlined the financial situation and is effectively implementing welfare programmes.
Meanwhile, he clarified that there is no police pressure anywhere in the electoral process. However, he alleged that during the previous BRS government, there were instances of misuse of the police machinery and arbitrary actions. He recalled that democracy was undermined in the past, with people being intimidated and deprived of their voting rights in the name of unanimous elections without polls.
In contrast, he asserted that elections are now being conducted democratically, without threats or coercion, under the present Congress government. He expressed confidence that the Congress party enjoys strong public support across the state. He also predicted that the party would secure a resounding victory in over 85 per cent of the seats in these elections.
The Minister again stressed that voting is crucial for strengthening democracy. Therefore, he urged citizens to participate actively in the electoral process.
