Yellow Alert Issued as Rains Likely Across Telangana
Hyderabad, Feb. 22: The Hyderabad Meteorological Centre has forecast light to moderate rains in several districts of Telangana over the next two days. Accordingly, a yellow alert has been issued, and authorities have been advised to remain vigilant.
Low Pressure Over Bay of Bengal
At present, a strong low-pressure area persists over the southwest Bay of Bengal. As a result, significant changes in weather conditions have been observed across the region.
Moreover, a trough has formed from the low-pressure system extending up to central Maharashtra. This trough is located at an altitude of around 0.9 km above mean sea level.
It passes through parts of central Tamil Nadu and interior Karnataka before reaching south-central Maharashtra. Additionally, a surface circulation over the Bay of Bengal has contributed to the current weather pattern.
Because of these developments, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are likely on Monday and Tuesday.
Rainfall Expected in These Districts
On Monday, rainfall is likely in:
Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanamkonda, Jangaon, Siddipet, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Rangareddy, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy and Nagarkurnool districts.
