PF Interest Rate Set At 8.25 Per Cent

  • PF Interest Rate of 8.25 per cent continues for 2025-26

Hyderabad: PF Interest Rate has been fixed at 8.25 per cent on Employees’ Provident Fund deposits for the year 2025-26. The Labor Ministry announced the decision on Monday. This marks the third consecutive year that the 8.25 per cent rate will continue.

Earlier, the interest rate stood at 8.15 per cent in 2022-23. Later, authorities increased it to 8.25 per cent the following year. Since then, the same rate has continued. Therefore, subscribers will receive 8.25 per cent interest on their PF deposits for 2025-26 as well.

The decision on the PF Interest Rate was taken at the EPFO Central Board of Trustees meeting. Union Labor Minister Mansukhlal Mandaviya chaired the meeting. The Labor Ministry said it is maintaining the interest rate despite global fluctuations. However, it did not provide further financial details.

Meanwhile, the ministry also announced a one-time amnesty scheme for recognized PF trusts. This scheme aims to resolve difficulties faced by the Income Tax Department and others. It will give an opportunity to settle cases and related issues within six months. Therefore, PF trusts can address pending matters during this period.

In addition, the board approved simplified Standard Operating Procedures for PF withdrawals. This move seeks to ease the process for subscribers. Also, it approved a pilot project to directly deposit funds into bank accounts if the subscriber’s balance is less than Rs 1,000. This step aims to ensure quicker settlement of small balances.

Overall, the PF Interest Rate decision, along with procedural reforms, reflects the ministry’s effort to maintain returns and simplify processes. The announcements came after the EPFO Central Board of Trustees reviewed the proposals during its meeting.
