Strait of Hormuz Closed Only To US And Israeli Ships

Strait of Hormuz: Iran has clarified that the Strait of Hormuz is closed only to ships belonging to the United States and Israel. However, ships from other countries can pass through the key maritime route, according to Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

Araghchi made these remarks during an interview with a news agency. He said the restriction applies only to American and Israeli vessels. Meanwhile, ships from other countries are allowed to travel through the Strait of Hormuz without restrictions.

However, he noted that several countries have not come forward to use the route. He said many nations remain cautious due to security concerns in the region. Despite these concerns, he said that oil tankers and other ships are currently passing through the strait.

Iran explains Strait of Hormuz shipping restrictions

The Iranian minister said that a number of oil tankers and ships continue to move through the Strait of Hormuz. According to him, maritime traffic in the region has not completely stopped.

Araghchi made the comments after an announcement by Donald Trump. Trump said that China, France, Japan and several other countries were facing difficulties in the Strait of Hormuz because of artificial obstacles. He also said that those countries may soon send their warships to the area.

In response, Araghchi explained Iran’s position on the issue. He stated that only American and Israeli ships are restricted, while other vessels can travel through the strategic waterway.

Araghchi responds to claims about Mojtaba Khamenei

Araghchi also responded to claims made by the United States regarding Mojtaba Khamenei. US sources had claimed that Mojtaba Khamenei, the new Supreme Leader, was injured in recent attacks.

However, the Iranian minister rejected those claims. He said Mojtaba Khamenei had no such problem and was continuing his responsibilities. According to Araghchi, Mojtaba was performing his duties as required by the constitution.

Araghchi further said that Iran remains strong and does not rely on a single individual. He added that even if key people are killed, the country can continue to function. He also said the situation in Iran is currently under control.

Meanwhile, Araghchi addressed reports about talks held in Geneva last month. He said allegations that he shouted at US representatives Steve Witkoff and Kushner were not true. He also denied threatening that Iran has enough uranium for 11 nuclear bombs.

Araghchi said he expects the facts about the Geneva talks to become clear soon.
