Amaravati, March 17: Imams mouzans honoraria was released by the Andhra Pradesh government on Tuesday, with Rs 45 crore distributed across the state. The move comes as part of financial support extended under the NDA regime.
According to an official press release, the funds were released on the orders of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. The release took place in the run-up to the Ramzan festival. The decision aimed to ensure timely financial assistance to Imams and mouzans serving in various mosques.
The press release stated, “As per Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s orders, Rs 45 crore has been released as honorarium to Imams and mouzans,” confirming the disbursement. Meanwhile, the government also cleared honoraria that had been pending for six months.
Across the state, around 10,000 Imams and mouzans received the funds. Of these, about 5,000 Imams were given Rs 35 crore as honoraria for six months. Similarly, an equal number of mouzans received Rs 15 crore for the same period.
The release of funds followed the Chief Minister’s participation in the state Iftar held on Monday night. The timing of the decision is seen as significant, as it coincides with the ongoing Ramzan period, when financial support holds added importance.
Meanwhile, the government ensured that the payments reached beneficiaries across the state. The clearance of pending dues is expected to provide relief to Imams and mouzans who had been awaiting their honoraria.
Also, the move reflects the administration’s focus on addressing pending payments in a timely manner. Officials confirmed that the process was carried out as per the Chief Minister’s instructions.
Further, the distribution of honoraria highlights the government’s continued engagement with religious communities. The decision to release funds ahead of Ramzan underscores the importance of the occasion and the need for support during this period.
