Hyderabad, May 18: Tension gripped Rajanna Sircilla district after BJP workers allegedly attacked BRS leaders during a protest at the old bus stand on Sunday. The protest was organised by BRS leaders demanding the dismissal of Union Minister Bandi Sanjay following the arrest of his son Bandi Bhagirath in a POCSO case.
Several BRS leaders sustained injuries during the clash. However, the protesters continued their demonstration and raised slogans against Bandi Sanjay. They also displayed placards seeking his removal from the Union Cabinet.
As the situation turned tense, district police intervened and brought the situation under control. Rajanna Sircilla SP Mahesh B. Gite and DSP Nagendrachari stopped BJP workers and shifted them to the police station.
Police also dispersed the protesting BRS leaders from the protest site to prevent further escalation. The incident created tension in parts of the district headquarters for some time.
