Hyderabad, May 24: A bomb threat created panic at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Shamshabad after airport authorities received an email claiming that a bomb had been planted on a flight arriving from Amsterdam.
According to officials, an unidentified person sent an email warning that a bomb was present on KLM flight number KLM 873 travelling from Amsterdam to Hyderabad. The sender claimed that the explosive could go off at any moment before the aircraft landed.
Following the alert, airport authorities and security agencies immediately intensified security measures and placed emergency response teams on high alert.
The aircraft was safely landed at the Shamshabad International Airport under tight security arrangements. Soon after landing, all passengers were safely evacuated from the aircraft and shifted to an isolation area as a precautionary measure.
Bomb disposal squads, CISF personnel, and other security officials thoroughly inspected the aircraft and passengers’ baggage after the emergency landing.
After a detailed search operation, officials confirmed that no bomb or suspicious object was found inside the aircraft. Authorities later declared the threat to be a hoax email.
The incident caused temporary tension among passengers and airport staff. However, officials said all safety protocols were followed without any disruption to airport operations.
Airport authorities lodged a complaint with the police regarding the fake bomb threat email. Cybercrime and security agencies have started an investigation to trace the sender responsible for creating panic.
Officials stated that strict action would be taken against those involved in issuing false bomb threats, as such incidents create unnecessary fear and affect airport security operations.
