Rajya Sabha Elections Scheduled For June 18

New Delhi, June 1: The Election Commission of India has issued the notification for Rajya Sabha elections and announced that polling will be held on June 18 for seats falling vacant across 10 states, including Andhra Pradesh.

The terms of 24 Rajya Sabha members are set to expire in June and July. In addition, by elections will be conducted for three seats that became vacant before the completion of their terms.

Rajya Sabha Elections Schedule Announced

According to the Election Commission, nominations will be accepted until June 8. The scrutiny of nomination papers will take place on June 9, while candidates can withdraw their nominations until June 11.

Polling will be conducted on June 18. The counting of votes will begin at 5 pm on the same day after the completion of voting.

Meanwhile, elections will also be held for nine seats in the Bihar Legislative Council. In addition, a by election will be conducted for one vacant council seat in the state.

The Rajya Sabha elections are being conducted to fill vacancies arising from the retirement of members and to fill seats that became vacant before the end of their tenure.
