Hyderabad: Telangana marked its 12th State Formation Day on Monday with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy paying homage to the martyrs of the Telangana movement at Gun Park before participating in the official State Formation Day celebrations at the Secunderabad Parade Grounds.
The Chief Minister began the day by visiting Gun Park, where he offered floral tributes to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the creation of Telangana. After paying his respects, he proceeded to the Parade Grounds and unfurled the national flag as part of the official celebrations. He also received a ceremonial guard of honour from the police.
Extending greetings to the people of Telangana, Revanth Reddy described June 2 as an emotional occasion that commemorates the sacrifices made for statehood while inspiring citizens to focus on future goals and development.

State Formation Day celebrations were held across Telangana with ministers and public representatives participating in official programmes.
Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka hoisted the national flag in Khammam, while Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy led celebrations in Warangal. Minister Danasari Anasuya Seethakka participated in the State Formation Day programme in Mulugu and unfurled the national flag.
At the State Legislature, Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar hoisted the national flag at the Assembly premises, while Legislative Council Chairman Gutta Sukhender Reddy unfurled the flag at the Legislative Council.
MLAs, MLCs, and Assembly staff attended the celebrations and paid tribute to the leaders and martyrs of the Telangana movement.
Authorities imposed stringent security measures around Secunderabad and key event venues to ensure the smooth conduct of the celebrations. Nearly 1,000 police personnel were deployed for bandobast duties around the Parade Grounds and surrounding areas.
Traffic regulations and security checks were implemented at various locations as thousands of people attended the official programmes.
During the celebrations, leaders of the ruling Congress party stated that the government remains committed to the development and welfare of Telangana. They reiterated their focus on implementing welfare schemes, strengthening infrastructure, and accelerating economic growth across the State.
Telangana was officially formed on June 2, 2014, becoming India’s 29th State after a prolonged movement for separate statehood. The annual celebrations honour the sacrifices of those who fought for Telangana while showcasing the State’s achievements and future aspirations.
