BRS Will Not Get Opposition Status, Says Congress MLA

Hyderabad, June 7 (Maxim News): Congress MLA Medipalli Satyam on Sunday launched a sharp attack on the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), asserting that the party would fail to secure even the status of the Opposition in the next Telangana Assembly elections.

Addressing media persons at the Congress Legislature Party office, the Choppadandi MLA said the people of Telangana had already rejected the BRS in successive elections and would continue to do so in the future. He claimed that the Congress government, led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, was implementing welfare and development programmes that had earned public confidence across the state.

Satyam stated that Congress leader Sonia Gandhi had granted Telangana statehood and handed over a resource-rich state. However, he alleged that the previous BRS government under former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao pushed the state into debt through mismanagement and corruption.

BRS Faces Growing Public Rejection

The Congress legislator criticised BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao for his recent remarks abroad regarding Telangana’s economic condition. He challenged KTR to explain the state’s financial position at the time Telangana was formed and compare it with the situation when the BRS government left office.

Satyam said the people had already delivered a clear verdict against the BRS during the Lok Sabha elections and bypolls, including the Cantonment and Jubilee Hills constituencies. According to him, the party’s failure to perform effectively as an opposition force contributed to its electoral setbacks.

He further alleged that the BRS leadership continued to underestimate the people of Telangana. Drawing a comparison, he said the party had treated citizens as insignificant, but voters ultimately removed the BRS from power through democratic means.

The MLA predicted that the Congress would secure more than 80 Assembly seats in the next elections and retain power under Revanth Reddy’s leadership. He also claimed that the BRS would struggle to find strong candidates and may fail to achieve even double-digit representation in the Assembly.

Satyam accused KTR of spreading misinformation about Telangana’s progress and described him as a “brand ambassador for lies.” He also criticised the previous BRS government for allegedly failing to provide adequate housing and ration cards during its ten-year tenure.

The Congress MLA maintained that Telangana voters were politically aware and would continue to support a government focused on welfare, development, and public welfare initiatives. He urged BRS leaders to apologise to the people for what he described as years of misrule, corruption, and authoritarian governance before criticising the present administration.
