Hyderabad, June 7: The long-awaited six-lane bi-directional flyover at Bachupally in Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) limits is expected to be opened for public use in the second week of June, bringing major relief to daily commuters in the city’s western corridor.
The infrastructure project, aimed at easing heavy traffic on the Miyapur–Bachupally stretch, has been under construction for several years and is now in its final stage.
The flyover project was launched in 2022, when the foundation stone was laid at Bachupally X Roads. Although initially scheduled for completion by 2024, the project faced delays due to multiple operational and logistical challenges.
The Bachupally flyover is designed as a six-lane, bi-directional structure with a total length of 1.3 kilometres. The project has been constructed at an estimated cost of ₹141 crore.
It is expected to significantly improve traffic flow in one of Hyderabad’s busiest suburban corridors.
Once opened, the flyover is expected to ease congestion for commuters travelling between key residential and IT hubs, including:
- Miyapur
- KPHB
- Hi-Tech City
- Gachibowli
- Nizampet
- Bachupally
- Pragathi Nagar
- Bowrampet
- Mallampet
- Gandimaisamma
- Gajularamaram
Daily commuters and IT professionals are likely to benefit the most from improved connectivity and reduced traffic bottlenecks.
At present, travel on the Miyapur–Nizampet–Bachupally corridor takes around 20 minutes during peak hours. After the flyover becomes operational, the travel time is expected to reduce to 5 to 10 minutes, officials and projections suggest.
The new flyover is part of broader efforts to strengthen Hyderabad’s road infrastructure and reduce congestion in rapidly growing suburban areas. Once operational, it is expected to provide smoother traffic movement and improve connectivity across the western IT belt.
