Sharad Pawar’s NCP On The Verge Of A Split

Mumbai/Hyderabad, june 19 (Maxim News): As the political turmoil surrounding the Shiv Sena (UBT) in Maharashtra continues, speculations are rife that Sharad Pawar’s NCP-SP is also heading in the same direction. Ajit Pawar’s Nationalist Party (NCP) has dropped a bombshell by saying that several MPs and MLAs from Sharad Pawar’s faction are in talks with them. With this, there is a discussion in political circles that the NCP and SP may face the same situation that the Shiv Sena is currently facing.

Senior NCP leader and former Maharashtra minister Baba Dharma Rao has revealed that several MPs and MLAs from Sharad Pawar’s party are in talks with his party. He says that this is likely to lead to key political developments in Maharashtra in the coming days. However, no MP from Sharad Pawar’s faction has confirmed that such efforts are underway so far.

The NCP-SP has 8 MPs in the Lok Sabha and one MP in the Rajya Sabha. For a split in the parliamentary party or to avoid disqualification, two-thirds of the party’s MPs need to come together. For a legal split, six MPs in the Lok Sabha need to come together. The current NC-SP MPs in the Lok Sabha are Supriya Sule, Amol Kolhe, Bajrang Sonavane, Nilesh Lanka, Suresh Mehtre, Amar Kale, Bhaskar Bhagare, and Dhairashiel Mohite Patil. (Maxim News)
