Donald Trump Avenue Plaque | Hyderabad, June 24: U.S. Ambassador to India Sergio Gor and Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Tuesday unveiled a ceremonial plaque renaming the road adjoining the U.S. Consulate in Hyderabad as Donald Trump Avenue during the Freedom 250 reception marking 250 years of American Independence.
The event, hosted in Hyderabad, brought together diplomats, senior government officials and leaders from the business, aerospace, defence and technology sectors. The plaque unveiling was presented as a symbolic gesture recognising the growing strategic and economic ties between Telangana and the United States.
U.S. Consul General Laura Williams joined Ambassador Gor and the Deputy Chief Minister at the event, which highlighted Hyderabad’s role in advancing the broader U.S.-India partnership, particularly in innovation, defence, trade and technology.

Speaking at the reception, Ambassador Sergio Gor said Hyderabad represented one of the strongest examples of the growing momentum in U.S.-India relations, especially in sectors such as aerospace, defence and advanced technology. He said the city’s rapid growth and industrial base were helping deepen bilateral engagement.
Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka congratulated the American people on the 250th anniversary of Independence and said Hyderabad was proud to serve as a strong bridge in the India-U.S. relationship.
He highlighted Telangana’s importance as a partner in economic and strategic cooperation with the United States.
Consul General Laura Williams, who presided over her first Independence Day reception in Hyderabad, said the region’s innovation ecosystem across Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Odisha was playing an important role in shaping the future of technology cooperation between the two countries. She pointed to sectors such as aerospace, defence, artificial intelligence and biopharma as key areas of collaboration.
The U.S. mission said the renaming of the road adjoining the consulate reflected Hyderabad’s growing role in U.S.-India engagement and symbolised the strength of bilateral ties. The Freedom 250 event also served as a platform to underline shared economic priorities and strategic cooperation between the two democracies.
