Hyderabad, June 26: Two persons died and another sustained serious injuries in a road accident on the Gachibowli AMB flyover in Hyderabad on Thursday.
According to police, the accident occurred when a motorcycle collided head on with a scooter that was allegedly travelling on the wrong side of the flyover.
The deceased were identified as Srikanth and Vithal, who were riding the scooter. The motorcycle rider, Vinod, suffered serious injuries in the collision.
Local residents alerted the police immediately after the accident. Police personnel reached the spot and shifted the injured to a nearby hospital for treatment. The bodies of the deceased were also moved for postmortem examination.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the scooter was travelling in the wrong direction, resulting in the fatal collision. Police are examining the circumstances leading to the accident and collecting evidence from the scene.
A case has been registered under Section 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for causing death by negligent driving. Further investigation is underway.
The incident once again highlights the dangers of wrong side driving on Hyderabad’s busy flyovers and the need for strict enforcement of traffic regulations to prevent fatal accidents.
