Hyderabad, July 11: Finnish police recovered the body of an 18 year old Hyderabad student from the sea near Kruunuvuorenranta in Helsinki, more than two months after he went missing.
Finnish authorities said the body found on 9 July 2026 matched the student reported missing in early May. The Police of Finland said the National Bureau of Investigation will probe the cause of death. They added no crime is currently suspected. Officials gave no further details.
The student, Manideep, moved to Finland in 2025 to study engineering at LUT University in Lahti. Police said he travelled by Z train from Lahti to Helsinki on 5 May. His last confirmed sighting was near a K Market in Kruunuvuorenranta. Family members said his last call was on 5 May; he told his mother he was at a bakery and would return soon. His phone stayed switched off after that, the family said.
Finland’s National Bureau of Investigation led searches with Helsinki Police and the Border Guard. After weeks of operations, authorities recovered his body from the sea off Helsinki. The student’s family has asked Indian authorities for help to repatriate the mortal remains for final rites.
